Are you looking to change the 4-digit code on your Schlage BE365 Lock but not sure how to do it? Then this post is your go-to resource.

In the next few paragraphs, I'll show you how to change the 4-digit code on your Schlage BE365, add new User Codes, change the Programming Code, and more.

But first, what is the 4-digit code on your Schlage BE365 used for?

As you probably know, the 4-digit code that comes with your Schlage Lock is a default User Code that can be used to unlock the lock. There are actually two default codes—you can find them on a sticker on the back of the keypad assembly and the front of the User Manual.

So you'll need to change/delete these codes and add your own unique codes to ensure security.

With that being said, let's head over to the instructions.

Changing the 4 Digit Code on a Schlage Lock BE365

How to Change the 4 Digit Code on a Schlage BE365 Lock

To change this code, you have to delete it and then add another code of your choosing. Here's how to do that:

  • Step 1: Enter your current Programming Code and wait for 3 orange lights from the Schlage button, followed by 3 beeps.
  • Step 2: Press the Schlage button and then press 2. Wait for the Schlage button to light orange 3 times, followed by 3 beeps.
  • Step 3: Now enter the 4 digit code you want to change and wait for the Schlage button to blink 3 orange lights and beep 3 times.
  • Step 5: Re-enter the 4 digit code you want to change to complete the process. The Schlage button will illuminate green, followed by one long beep, indicating that the code has been successfully deleted.

Note that the 4-digit User Codes are two, so be sure to delete the two codes. Follow the same steps above to delete each of the preset 4 digit codes.

Now the default User Codes have been deleted, you can now add new User Codes to replace them. See how to do that in the next paragraph.

How to Add Another 4 Digit Code (User Code)

  • Step 1: Enter your current Programming Code and wait for 3 orange lights from the Schlage button with 3 beeps from the lock.
  • Step 2: Press the Schlage button and then press 1. Wait for the Schlage button to blink the orange light 3 times and beep 3 times.
  • Step 3: Enter a new 4 digit User Code and wait for the Schlage button to blink the orange light 3 times and beep 3 times.
  • Step 4: Re-enter the new 4 digit User Code to complete the process.

If you see a green light followed by one long beep, it means the new User Code has been successfully added—technically replacing the default 4-digit Code you deleted.

Note: This 4-digit code is your User Code that can be used to unlock the lock. You can add more User Codes with the same process—the lock stores up to 19 User Codes.

Now, that's all about changing the default 4-digit code on your Schlage lock BE365. Let's look at other programming changes you may want to make to your Schlage BE365.

Changing the Preset Programming Code

Like the 4-digit User Code, Schlage BE365 comes with a preset 6-digit Programming Code that is used to put the lock in Programming Mode.

This code is required when you want to add or delete User Codes, enable/disable Vacation Mode, and more. And to ensure that only you can make changes to your lock, you need to change the preset Programming Code.

The Preset Programming Code can also be found on a sticker on the back of the keypad assembly and the User Manual.

So, here's how to Change the Preset Programming Code on your Schlage BE365 Keypad Lock:

  1. Enter your preset Programming Code (can be found on a sticker on the back of the keypad assembly) and wait for the Schlage button to flash orange light 3 times and beep 3 times.
  2. Press the Schlage button and then press 3. Wait for the lock to beep three times and flash orange light times.
  3. Enter your new Programming Code and wait for the usual 3 orange flashes and 3 beeps.
  4. Re-enter the new Programming Code to complete the change. The Schlage button will illuminate green once, followed by one long beep, confirming that the process was successful.

Note: If you've previously changed the Programming Code, you can use the same steps above to change it again—if you want to. But be sure to remember and use your current Programming Code in the process.

Schlage BE356 has other features such as Vacation Mode that neutralizes all User Codes and thus prevents unauthorized entry when you're away from home. This feature is usually disabled by default, let's look at how to enable/disable this feature.

Enabling/Disabling Vacation Mode on Schlage BE365

Here's how to enable Vacation Mode:

  1. Enter your current Programming Code and then wait for the Schlage button to blink orange 3 orange lights, followed by 3 beeps.
  2. Press the Schlage button and then press 4.

And that's all about enabling Vacation Mode. The Schlage button will illuminate green followed by one long beep, confirming that the Vacation Mode has been successfully activated.

To disable vacation mode, you only need to enter your Programming Code.

Closing Thoughts

Like other Schlage keypad lock models, BE365 comes with two unique (4 digits) default User Codes, which you're probably looking to change.

Of course, you should change the default codes for security reasons. But note that process requires you to delete the codes and then add new codes—there's no method to directly override the existing 4-digit code.

Note: You can also change the 4-digit code on Schlage FE595 lock with the same method in this post.
